What is pilling?

The fuzz that appears on sweaters after a wash or even after only being worn once is almost inevitable to some degree. As we wash and wear certain garments, the fibers break and create pills; also known as fuzz. How to minimize pilling?

Although some fabrics are more prone to pilling than others, with proper care, you can significantly reduce pills on your garments . Machine washing and drying does cause additional friction, therefore hand-washing may prolong the life of your knits. You should also take other precautions such as washing with cold water, turning garments inside out and using a detergent that does not contain chemicals that can affect delicate fibers. In all cases, it is important to read care labels and wash your garments accordingly. In general, natural fibers are less prone to pilling than synthetic fibers.
